Portsmouth Poetry

Portsmouth Poetry is a website and mixed arts organisation based on the south coast formed and run by two proud Welsh people, one from West Wales and one from the North, there’s inclusion for you!

Established in 2016, it has established a reputation for poetry-centred events and performances, competitions, reviews of new work from round the world and innovative community and schools’ projects.  It is a creative partner of Ports Fest the annual 10-day arts festival in the city and works with the Victorian New Theatre Royal and Portsmouth Guildhall in the city centre to devise projects and performance events.

Its ‘Away With Words’ arm provides monthly spoken words events at the Guildhall Studio and has recently moved into podcasting including an inventive cast-recording on Robert Graves with local actor Stuart Olesker who met the poet in Mallorca in 1961.

Future projects will include further podcasts on lyrics and educational projects on the poetry of Rap and the poetry and ‘rock and roll poet’ controversies of Dylan Thomas.

You can follow us on www.portsmouthpoetry.co.uk and Facebook and Twitter

Our podcasts, ‘Away With Words’ are available on Apple Podcast, Spotify and for free on Buzzsprout, details on the website.
